Visa for Business Visitors
Qualifications:
A
B-1 visa is available to foreigners visiting the United States to conduct
business. Acceptable business activities include:
1.
Fulfilling commercial transactions;
2.
Negotiating contracts;
3.
Consulting with Business Associates;
4.
Litigation;
5.
Participating in conventions, conferences, or seminars; or
6.
Conducting independent research.
Requirements:
B-1
visitors are required to:

enter
the U.S. for a limited duration.

depart
the U.S. at the expiration of his or her stay.

maintains
a foreign residence.

show adequate
financial arrangements for travel, stay, and departure from the U.S.
-
engage
in legitimate activities.
B-1 visa
holders may not accept employment while staying in this status.
Duration
of Visa:
A
B-1 visa is valid for up to one year. Upon entry, B-1 visa holders are
usually given a six month stay, which can be renewed for another six month
period.
