B-2 Visitor Visa

Qualifications:
 A B-2 is available to foreigners visiting the United States for personal matters.  Personal matters are defined as legitimate activities, e.g. touring, visits with friends or relatives, medical treatment, and other activities of a social, or service nature.

Requirements:
 B-2 visitors are required to:

 
• enter the U.S. for a limited duration;
• depart the U.S. at the expiration stay;
• maintain a foreign residence;
• prove sufficient financial arrangements for travel, stay, and departure from the U.S.
• engage solely in legitimate activities.

No B-1 visa holders may accept employment while in this status.

Duration of Visa:
 A B-2 visa is valid for up to one year. Upon entry, a B-2 visa holder is usually given a six month stay and can be renewed for an extended six month period.
